I'm Jason Thong, welcome to my home page on the Rubik's cube! I've been cubing since 2004 and I use the Fridrich method starting on any color. The goal of my website is to share my knowledge and provide interesting (and hopefully unique) ideas and optimizations on speed cubing. My best average of 10 solves is 11.84 seconds.

On this site, you will find the best beginner solution ever. This is the 6th generation beginner solution, and I honestly believe that it can not be dumbed down any further. It is shown completely in animation, and there's no crap like "try this on your own as an exercise". It is as short as possible without overlooking important details that most other beginner solutions miss. If you are just starting to learn the Fridrich method, my Intro F2L section has a very comprehensive tutorial on the F2L.

[May 2008]

I'm actually starting to have fun with cubing again, no more serious training, there's too many fast people. I'm experimenting with F2L (yet again...) and working on blindfold cubing in noisy environments. I'll post stuff if I find anything really useful. I updated my records section.

[Jan 2008]

Since the last update in March 2007, I've made some new videos, where the camera can see most of what I see. These were filmed with a camcorder, not a webcam. I've also added a section on blindfold cubing using the 3-cycle method. It's pretty detailed (as is most of this website) and there's a nice collection of blindfold algorithms provided.

I've decided not to make a DIY (do-it-yourself) kit tutorial. The quality of the DIY cubes have really improved over the years. The manufacturing imperfections are now too insignificant to manually remove by using sandpaper. I haven't sanded a cube since early 2007. Just find some good lube and adjust the tightness of the centers to your liking. Every month or two, fold some paper towels over a butter knife or a ruler, and insert this between the layers of your cube to clean the insides.
